Vype Influencer Kit

S2 Events contacted me to help create an ‘influencer kit’ for an upcoming vaping product from Vype to be sent Instagram influences in France to unbox and show to their respected followers. The brief was to design and create a presentation box of sorts to house and display the vape product inside, with the included charger and vape ePod cartridges. Initial discussions centred around vapours being released from the box upon opening, however this needed to be re-thought once French border regulations were taken into considerations.

I started concepting ideas for the kit immediately during the meeting and I was given a fair amount of creative freedom as Vype did not really have a specific design in mind. The main concept was to have pieces of frosted acrylic in a vertical position in a row, laser cut in the shape of different waves to resemble vapours at different depths. They would then be lit from the underside to make them standout more from one another. Each piece of acrylic also had cut-outs in them so that the vape pen could sit on top, which created the illusion of the Vype ePod sitting on and amongst clouds of vapour. All of which sat neatly within a small yet professional looking box.

The design was then quickly and promptly created and rendered in Fusion 360 which gave the client a visual representation of how the kit would look. Once they had signed of on the design, I began working on a prototype which I was able to produce within one due to the incredibly tight deadline. We cut the acrylic and the base to hold the pieces in place, and placed LEDs beneath them. This was all then placed in a box which was a sample from a local box manufacturer/supplier.

Overall, we had a very tight deadline and had to solve a lot of technical problems from how to create a vapour effect without vapours to how to comply with regulations regarding sending battery powered devices to France.
